Get ready for multiple births

In the last couple of years I have dreamt repeatedly about being in labour and yet not giving birth yet, I have also dreamt of looking after other people’s babies and taking care of new life entrusted to me. In one dream I was aware that I was being given a suitcase full of new baby clothes for the next season. Considering I rarely used to dream about anything of importance, this is new for me!
There has also been a steady stream of revelation about ‘getting ready’ and a deep resonance with the John the Baptist passages about ‘preparing the way for the Lord’ (Mark 1:3). In one dream I was in the house getting ready to welcome guests but the washing machine was where the dining table should be and my mother was hanging washing on the line instead of helping prepare the food. The Lord has been making His bride ready: giving us clean hands and pure hearts (Psalm 24;4), seeing if there is anything offensive in us (Psalm 139:24) and cutting off everything that doesn’t bear fruit (John 15:2) in preparation for what He wants to do by His Spirit.
The words in Luke 10:40 have kept coming back to me lately: ‘But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made.’ Jesus responds to her ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things’ (Luke 10:41). In this time of preparation, as we wait for new birth and new life to come, there is a danger of distraction and focusing on things that are not part of The Lord’s plan in this season. They are probably all good things -Martha was seemingly ‘doing the right thing’ but her focus was on the preparation rather than on Jesus and it was making her upset and worried. The Lord wants us to listen, fix our eyes on Him and move from there (from revelation) not move from what we see needs doing.
Interestingly scripture says ‘At that time, Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth’ (Luke 1:39). At just the right time Mary got ready and then she moved to their home, away from hers. She moved quickly to somewhere she didn’t plan to be because the Lord had told her what was happening with Elizabeth (Luke 1:36). I believe we are in a ‘Pregnant Pause moment’ which indicates that there is more to come and a sense of expectation over what the Lord is going to bring forth. We sometimes talk about being ‘pregnant with promise’ - the Holy Spirit has conceived dreams within us that will be fulfilled according to what The Lord has said. I believe we are individually and uniquely getting ready to move physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually - each one of us according to His love and plan in our lives. These moves are unexpected and they are moves of faith and trust.
Pay attention to the response in your heart and mind because Jesus is giving us encounters with others where something leaps within us as the baby leapt in Elizabeth’s womb when she heard Mary’s greeting (Luke 1:41). We will share deep connection with some people and be filled with the Holy Spirit, knowing it’s His will being done. Get ready for multiple births because all this movement is about our King bringing forth a mighty harvest. Let it be done according to your will Lord!
